We are looking for an outgoing, confident Visitor Services Assistant who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service and creating memorable visitor experiences.

About the Role
As a Visitor Services Assistant, you will play a key role in the daily operations of the Garden’s visitor centre. You’ll be a welcoming presence for guests, ensuring their visit is enjoyable, informative, and inclusive.
You’ll also support events and programmes, helping communicate the Garden’s mission and engaging a wide range of audiences in our work.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with daily visitor centre operations, including admissions, retail, and event support

Support the setup and delivery of events and ensure smooth visitor flow

Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming public areas (indoor and outdoor)

Provide a proactive, friendly, and inclusive welcome to all visitors

Handle cash and card transactions using booking and point-of-sale systems

Support food and beverage service in a fast-paced environment

Identify opportunities to improve the visitor experience and share best practice with the team

Follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures

Support other teams across the Garden as required

Carry out additional duties as reasonably requested by the Management team
About You
We’re looking for someone who:

Has excellent communication skills and enjoys engaging with diverse audiences

Has experience working with and engaging children
-
Is confident, adaptable, and comfortable in a customer-facing role
-
Can respond positively to changing weather and working conditions
-
Is well-organised, proactive, and able to prioritise effectively
-
Has experience in a busy customer-facing environment (visitor attraction or hospitality experience desirable)
-
Is comfortable handling cash/card payments and using booking/EPOS systems
-
Is a strong team player with a flexible and positive approach
